Settebello Pizzeria - Las Vegas, NV

Settebello Pizzeria

9350 West Sahara Avenue #170, Las Vegas, NV 89117
(702) 901-4877

This was a tasty afternoon snack, with great company I have tried merely half their menu.

Settebello's is what I imagine to be real Italian pizza. Their bread's aromas and welcoming
atmosphere lures in locals for their delicious variety of pizza's.

This time I just had a 'Misto', which is an assortment of a meat and veggies. This was Prosciutto

and  artichoke hearts in olive oil on their crispy, fresh made bread. Other favorites are their
Margherita Pizza, and Arancini. Their simple happy hour menu is perfect for sharing appetizers
and makes a perfect meal!

Honey Salt - Sunday Brunch

Honey Salt
1031 S Rampart Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89145

I have been to Honey Salt on numerous occasions now and this was my favorite dish, thus far! Unique, eclectic vibe, tons of inside artistic scenery seating and an acquaint outside lime green seated patio , craft drinks and locally discovered ingredients coming your way.

The only other menu I've experienced, at similar degree was EAT, in the downtown, Las Vegas area. One of the only successful restaurants with the downtown project. Honey Salt, on the other hand is branching out and the partners are opening new restaurants in the Summerlin area.

Both Honey Salt's Lunch, Brunch and Dinner menu all have specialty items that are not on any other menu and the breakfast pizza with succulent apple wood, smoked bacon with the right amount of cheese is not a bad way to start your Sunday!

2110 N Rampart Blvd, #110 (SEC of Rampart & Lake Mead)
Las VegasNV89128
(702) 360-8885
Lunch $-$$, Dinner $$-$$$

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Vegas, hands down. It's conveniently located around the corner from me, hidden behind Starbucks. This is somewhere you will need to make reservations for, every night of the week. A small, eclectic, family owned one stop shop for your favorite (and new favorite) thai dishes. Everything i've ordered is so carefully prepared and tasty, you will not be disappointed! The first time I visited Nittayas, everyone at the bar were locals that return weekly and have tried everything on the menu. Here's what they recommended!

PS: every thurs is 1/2 off a selection of wine's (changes)

Unique Spinach Salad- each leaf lightly battered and fried! Served with a spicy cashew dipping sauce

Balsamic Glazed Prime Steak, Grilled Asparagus/Artichokes, Fingerling Potatos

I did all my shopping for last nights BBQ at Trader Joes, minus the XL artichokes and prime cuts, compliments of Costco! I love TJ's during the Fall Season, between new pumpkin cranberry pita chips and their new balsamic glaze, I had tons of ideas to BBQ.

Grilled artichokes are so easy to make and super healthy, rich in phytonutrients, antioxidants and dietary fibré! Simply boil the artichokes (2 in picture) for at least 20 Min., halve them from the stem, upwards till they break apart and drizzle olive oil, sea salt and set for 10-15min (allow all oil to seep through to make them extra juicy off the grill. Lastly, BBQ on medium for 15-20 min watching carefully to make sure they do not burn! I served this as an appetizer, alongside manchego cheese, flax water crackers and pumpkin pita chips.

For the dipping sauce-
1/4 C organic mayo
2  Tsp dijon (or any grainy mustard)
2 Slices of lemon juiced

 Side 1- Fingerling potatos
preheat oven to 450 degrees

2 cloves sliced garlic
1 large shallot
2 tbs olive oil
1 tsp oregano

Mix all ingredients and roast for 20-30min til golden brown

Side 2- Grilled Asparagus
Rise and cut off the fibrous endings. Toss in olive oil, salt and pepper, grill for 10-15min (watching closely)

Prime Glazed Steak

For the Marinade- 3 Tbs balsamic glaze, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 3 Tbs dijon mustard, sea salt. Let sit in fridge for at least 3hrs

Wait for the grill on high to reach 500 degrees. For medium rare, I grilled ~13 min each side (these were HUGE). Perfection....!

Mon Ami Gabi, Las Vegas, NV

3655 S Las Vegas Blvd  Las Vegas, NV 89109

(702) 944-4224

My parents came to visit and brought along two birds from London. I gave my parents a tour of my Summerlin frequent happy hour spots (soon to post) and then had an incredible lunch at Mon Ami Gabi, across from Bellagio's water fountain show at Paris Hotel.

I ordered the seafood crepe with jumbo shrimp and sea scallops in a light cream sauce and peas. Along with a few fries from my new British friends hamburgers and a Wynn morning workout, I was completely satisfied.

Mon Ami Gabi is a beautiful setting, reasonably priced french dining with a non-invasive patio to overlook the heart of the strip.

Fat Angel- San Francisco, CA

1740 O'Farrell Street  San Francisco, CA 94115

(415) 525-3013

This restaurant is in the heart of San Francisco. I visited months ago and remember it like it was yesterday. I have since been back to San Francisco and have not found anything like Fat Angel across the state! I caught up with a best friend here after a late arrival flight and with a mouthwatering pizza, zesty salad and a bottle of zin, we made out well under $65.
Wild mushroom, white truffle oil w/ pecorino-thin crust pizza
Endive, apple, candied walnuts, gorgonzola w/ cider vinaigrette salad
I prefer sitting at the bar here, unless its a lunch out on the patio. Service is always much better and I met a wine Sommelier that enlightened me on my favorite types of wine!

View Wine Bar- Las Vegas, NV

At the Market LV, Tivoli Village
420 S Rampart
Las Vegas, NV 89142

View Wine Bar at Tivoli Village is a new favorite with it's versatile, selective wine menu and tantalizing appetizer and food pairings. A Mid-sized bar with comfy booths and a long bar with views of Boca Park and Tivoli, it was a perfect low key birthday destination with close friends this year and a guaranteed return! View has private rooms and little gift stores to wander into while you wat for your food. Modern meets rustic and eclectic design, knowledgable staff

Friends ordered several snacks through the evening, including fried risotto cakes, a BLT flatbread, proscuitto wrapped dates, cheese platter, seared ahi and lobster mac and cheese. Small, rich plates meant for sharing. Now I need to persuade the owner to open up for brunch!

Due Forni- Las Vegas, NV

3555 South Town Center Drive #105
Las Vegas, NV 89135
(702) 586-6500

Due Forni is a new favorite, only steps from my office. I only wish I discovered this
charming italiano cafe earlier! The staff is extremely friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a tasty menu selections. They also have an inviting patio, espresso, affogato gelato, a "fresh
mozzarella bar", happy hour (of course) and a new frequent customer(s)- as I will be taking
all of my friends.

The "fresh mozzarella bar"comes with your choice of a side and ordering bread with any of their entrees is a MUST. Round one my friend and I ordered the stracciatella with roasted tomatos, then we sampled each of the other sides (shortly) after!- roasted peppers, kalamata, and fresh pesto with toasted walnuts
All of their entrees are reasonably priced and you can plan to share their pizzas, as they cover half the table and fill the entire restaurant with amazing aromas!

Benedict's- Las Vegas, NV

344 E Desert Inn Road
Las Vegas, Nevada 89109
(702) 472-7799

A new friend in Las Vegas introduced me to Benedict's for a Saturday brunch. Though difficult to find, inside of Blair's Hotel, seconds from Las Vegas Blvd, Benedict's is a quiet cafe with outside seating and delicious menu items.
Our server was happy to obligue to several requests from a strong coffee to whipping up a veggie scramble. My friend ordered two eggs, any style, homestyle potatoes  bacon and a side of pancakes (along with her toast) that I believe was included on the menu! I ordered an eggwhite scramble with onion, peppers, tomatos and gruyere, perfect portion size, served with fresh fruit. Outstanding simple menu breakfast, all items reasonably priced. This is a hidden gem for anyone looking to have a business meeting, read a book outside, or relax with a sunday paper.
Looking forward to my return to try their lunch!

Portabella Shirataki Noodles

I am thrilled to have discovered the shirataki noodle! Compliments of Whole Foods for less than $2 and only 40 Calories in an entire pack. These would be great in any pasta dish and will be  regular in
my fridge!

Here's how I made it

1 pack shirataki noodles
1 chopped portabella mushroom
3 cloves diced garlic
1/2 yellow or white onion
1 cup cooked brussel sprout slaw (Trader Joe's)
1/4 C Gyoza sauce (Trader Joe's)
2 Tbs olive oil
1 Tbs Aioli mustard (or spicy dijon mustard)
1/4 CBalsamic Vinegar

In one pan saute the brussel sprout slaw (or cabbage) with 1tsp olive oil, salt/pepper and 1/4C Balsamic Vinegar. In another larger pan, heat olive oil, garlic and onion to sweat out, add mushroom and simmer on medium. Strain and cook the noodles in a microwave for 1 min, add to the large pan. When slaw had simmered down, add this to the large pan, along with the noodles. Add the Sauces and voila! My first semi-asian dish was a success!

Ace Hotel- Palm Springs, CA

TEL: 760.325.9900

FAX: 760.325.7878

Whether it's vacation time, bbq hut out by the pool, the cave bar, or their diner style restaurant... my favorite order is out by the pool summer or winter time. The bbq hut serves up homemade sausage dogs, tacos with sides and their ceviche/sandwiches are IRRESISTIBLE with a tacate. My photo says it all. Favorite pool spot in the coachella valley
